DOCENT/RESEARCH COUNCIL Docents provide year-round gallery talks and tours for visitors to the Museum. They also are expected to participate in other aspects of tour-related projects. Requirements include: creativity, organized thinking, ability to speak in public, desire to learn, flexibility, commitment to the program, and prior experience in teaching, art history, or working with groups. Commitment: Two years (first year is a provisional training year). Attendance required at training and planning sessions held most Mondays, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, September - June; availability one additional weekday each week year-round for tours; and 2 - 3 weekend afternoons each year. Applications are due June 1st for the training course that begins the following September. Research Committee members maintain the Museum's Research Room files and catalogue new books and other research materials added to the book collection. They research and gather information on historical and contemporary art in the Museum's Permanent Collection and changing exhibitions. Commitment: One year with two to four days a month with some of the work to be done independently in libraries and galleries, and attendance at monthly meetings September through June. Applications are due June 1st for training that begins the following September. |
